McDonald's

Ducking into McDonald's to access their free internet to locate a store, we had to take a picture of their hi-tech ordering system.  Punch in your order on the screen and walk over to the counter and pick it up.  Even fast food workers are losing their jobs to technology. (We didn't order a beer, but it was on the menu.)

Arrived in Spain!

2nd only to a short nap on our list of priorities was heading out on the town our first night here for some Spanish Tapas.

Pronounced pie-aye-ya.  Kirt has perfected this traditional Spanish dish he learned over 20 years ago in Spain.

Long travel day

Today we had breakfast in Spain, lunch in London, and dinner in Seattle. Heathrow airport had a great, although expensive spicy noodle dish.

Churros Con Chocolate

We couldn't come to Madrid without stopping at the best and one of the oldest Chocolaterias in Spain.

Good Eats

Tacos de solomillo al roquefort, translated to English is: steak bits and potatoes in a blue cheese cream sauce. This is probably one of the most delicious meals we've had in Spain.

Breakfast

Breakfast out this morning at a local place called Granja Elsa. This was the place we stopped at the first night. Turns out we picked a good one because it is becoming one of our favorite local hang outs. If we owned a local watering hole someday, it would be very similar to this one! Maybe I'll ask her if she wants to sell it?? :)

Ah, a great Spanish dinner!

...and at the appropriate Spanish dinner hour (11:00pm). We were happy to arrive in Sitges after a very long travel day. After dropping our stuff in the apartment that we rented, a dinner of authentic Spanish tapas was the FIRST thing on the agenda!

Awesome Class!

I went to an awesome class tonight (Sushi 103) to learn how to make Sushi. They only expected to have 4 students, but I was the only one who showed up. I received excellent one-on-one instruction! Here are my creations: inro sushi, bo sushi, oshi zushi, inari zushi, fukusa (chakin) zuzhi. --Kirt

Non-traditional Dinner

We decided to do something different for dinner this year, so we made Cashew Salmon, some homemade fried rice, broccoli, & fresh rolls. It was awesome! --K&R

Traditional Breakfast

We did have a very traditional breakfast of Sourdough Pancakes. I think that has been our Christmas breakfast every year that we've been together. --K
